In my newest work,"cutout sculptures," digital images are mounted on rigid geometrical shapes combined so as to stand upright. The images are the result of a long process. Starting from photographic close-ups of skin, I assemble them into "skin fabric" which I then digitally warp and mold into sculptural looking skin objects. No matter how abstract the final shapes are, the skin texture of the printed image, though hardly recognizable, is a reminder that f every human activity and thought is a manifestation of the body.
These are reduced models of the final piece which could stand 5' to 6' tall.
